Grace King High School
Class of 1990
20-Year Reunion
New Orleans, Louisiana
June 18-20, 2010
Here's what you've been waiting for... all the details so you can make your plans to attend our 20th reunion this summer in New Orleans! The total cost (drum roll, please) is $90 per person or $180 per couple -- FOR THE ENTIRE WEEKEND!
The deadline to pay is May 1, though attendees may still register by May 22 at a cost of $110 per person. Anyone registering after May 22, or at the door -- either Friday or Saturday night -- will pay $130 per person to attend. All of the information on how and who to pay is listed after the event info below.
Here's what we have planned:
Friday, June 18 @ 7 p.m.Le Bon Temps Roule4801 Magazine St., corner of Bordeaux StreetNew OrleansWe're calling this the "ice breaker" event -- you know, a casual night to get reacquainted with old friends and maybe make a few new ones. We've reserved the back room at this storied Uptown landmark, and attendees should enter through the side door on Bordeaux Street. We'll have a keg and some finger foods, or you can get the drinks of your choice at the cash bar.
Saturday, June 19 @ 7:30 p.m. -- THE MAIN EVENT!The Parish @ the House of Blues225 Decatur St.New OrleansThis is the night you've been waiting for -- the main event! We're headed to the ultra-cool House of Blues in the French Quarter, where we've got The Parish all to ourselves for the night. We'll have an open bar with premium liquor, beer and wine for three hours, plus an outstanding assortment of the best down-home, Southern cookin' that the House of Blues has to offer. When the three hours are up, we have the room for another hour, with a cash bar, for anyone who's not quite ready to call it a night.
Try to picture it... green and gold streamers hanging from the rafters, pictures from the past, the sounds of the '80s wafting through the room... AND, all your friends from high school! Perfect, right?!
Sunday, June 20 @ noonPontiff Playground (formerly known as Metairie Playground)1521 Palm St. Metairie
Bring your kids and a picnic lunch, and join us for an afternoon at the playground! No frills, just friends and fun. Meet us near the new KaBOOM playground equipment, which is closest to the railroad tracks at the end of the curvy road called "Peter's Tract." This area also has soccer fields, a running track and public restrooms. So unless you're nursing a serious hangover, come on out and say a last goodbye to your old friends before heading back to reality :)
Now, who's paying for all of this? YOU! You can pay by credit card over the Internet or by check via the U.S. Postal Service. If you want to pay by credit card (and that's our preference, by the way), visit http://reunionmanager.net/class_members/registration.php?class_id=1007 and register.Once you have registered you will have to login with the login and password that you created during the registration process and complete the Payment Process. Please do not register twice. You can pay via Paypal or with a credit card If you want to pay by check, please send to: Kenny Civello, 18230 South Mission Hills Ave., Baton Rouge, LA 70810.Don't forget, you are paying $90 per person and gaining access to both the Friday and Saturday night events.
There is NOT a lower, Friday night- or Saturday night-only cost, so please don't ask for a discount if you can't make both nights. It should be noted that the combined cost for the two events at last year's Class of 1989 reunion was $150 per person, so we think this is a great deal! Also, we have to pay for these events in advance, so unless there is some kind of emergency situation and you won't be able to come, we won't be able to provide refunds. Sorry!Coming from out of town? This being New Orleans and all, you can't walk too far in the French Quarter without running into a hotel. There are several within 1/4 mile of the House of Blues, at a variety of star and cost levels, including the Hotel Monteleone, Doubletree New Orleans, Westin Canal Place, JW Marriott, Holiday Inn New Orleans French Quarter, Sheraton New Orleans and Omni Royal Orleans. We did check on blocking rooms at a discounted rate, but the rate was same quoted by Expedia for that weekend at the hotels we checked, and we didn't have to give anyone a credit card if you book a room on your own :)Parking? On-street at Le Bon Temps -- try looking for a spot on Magazine, Bordeaux or anywhere in the surrounding neighborhood. On Saturday night, the House of Blues offers $4 validated parking at the garage at the Canal Place shopping center, which is 1-2 blocks away and truly the best deal you are going to find, unless you get something on the street for free.
Questions?Feel free to contact Kenny Civello or Christine Harvey, your reunion co-chairs, if you have any lingering questions. You can reach us on Facebook or by email at kencivello@gmail.com or harvey.christine@gmail.com. We hope each and every one of you will be able to make it!
